Ford Focus 1.8tdci - focus tdci 1.8 issue starting when cold. Guys at a bit of a loss with this one, done the usual search's on the net without a conclusion. When the cold weather sets in it is a nightmare to start, car has been on diagnostics and no fault codes come up, its a 54 plate with 75k on.
Your Focus’s engine needs air, fuel, and spark to achieve optimum ignition . When one or more of these variables is off, it can lead to a rough idling condition. Ford Focus 1.8 TDCi, 2001. - Occasional rough starting - BenG I'd say it's worth finding out if you have the latest ECU update, as this made my car a much better starter from cold and it was a later year than yours (2003), so I'm guessing yours might not have had it unless it's been serviced at a main dealer recently.
I have a 2008 mondeo with 1.8 Tdci (QYBA/Lynx). Apparently Mk2 Focus can have the same motor, so I also posted here, as there has been no help else where. First my EGR gave fault code P141A and then the car started to refuse igniting when motor was hot few weeks after that. I blanked the EGR with a steel plate, and the problem got little better

It only lasts for a short time, as little as 30 seconds or less, then it's fine and doesn't miss a beat. At some stage after a cold start, a petrol engine will try to switch from open loop mode to closed loop mode.
I then countered why did the locksmith managed to start the car a week after the problem if it was the ECU burnt. I even drove around and park my car at Tesco. It was only later in the evening, after 5 minutes of warming up the car and as soon as I turned on the headlights, the engine malfunction warning came on.
Replace injector fuel pipes. 6. Cam belt needs to be removed so will be replaced. 7. Possibility of injectors needing to be replaced (will know after) Cost will be around almost £1400, or if injectors needed doing £2000 approx. Garage also had a Transit van with pump problems too brought in on same day.
Good evening everybody!!! I now have a new problem When my engine warms up properly, wobbling starts at idle every two secondsidle correct, two seconds, wobble, idle correct, two seconds after engine wobbles againit is very annoying because it is transfering inside the car as a short shakingThe idle rpms stay stable and the fuel consumption have been rised a little bit
